My Life-changing Encounter with Inner Engineering: A Journey of Self-Transformation – Abhishek Patel

I am Abhishek Patel, and this is my transformation journey.
I had everything I wanted, and life was great, but I would wonder, is there something more to life, or is this it?
Would achieving social success make me a successful piece of life?
I noticed, while on a tropical vacation surrounded by gorgeous beaches, exotic buffets and lively parties, that my mind was preoccupied with anxious thoughts and worries. Life was ticking away, and I was missing it as I was caught up in my mental drama about my project back home. I felt it was time for transformation.
Then I learned that, although my body had evolved since caveman times, my mental process was still guided by the 200,000-year-old hunter-gatherer mindset. I had put the cart before the horse, and now it was time to attend to the horse. It was time to engineer myself, to evolve my mind.
I learned meditation online, and very quickly, feelings of stress and anxiousness reduced. I made better decisions; my mind was quieter; I was getting better at life. But I was looking to evolve, so I kept searching.
Then I came across a living master who’s offering something deeper.
Because the content of our life will not change our life; it is the context of our life which changes our life.
~ Sadhguru Quote
As Sadhguru wisely puts it, Inner Engineering is about shifting one’s context from psychological and physiological processes to the life process, resulting in a transformative change.
In January 2019, I took the Inner Engineering program and I learned a meditation practice that transformed my life. I received a lot more in four days of Inner Engineering than in four years of studying engineering at the University.
The first time I did the meditation, something beautiful and intense burst from within me, and tears of ecstasy washed my cheeks for the first time ever. It happens frequently now as I’ve kept up with the meditation.
And since then, joy has been my most loyal companion through all my ups and downs, and is spilling out of me wherever I go. My love affair with life exploded. Now, love is a natural happening, not as a consequence of somebody’s actions toward me. Life has become more effortless, and taking action became liberating for the first time.
I learned to shut down my brain’s internal stress manufacturing center. I enter into longer and deeper states of flow while working, and now my performance and perception have been enhanced in a whole new way. As my mind chatter reduced, and I opened up to life, the creativity has flowed from a space deep within where thoughts don’t exist. Today, poetry simply happens through me from that space.
Now, as society’s conditioning on me is dissolving, the limiting desires of wanting to fit in and feeling secure are no longer available to stop me from choosing options that would make my life more meaningful.
I turned down my dream job after completing my master’s degree; instead, I chose to become a volunteer and offer myself for something I feel truly matters.
Powered with this new freedom, my life has brought me incredible new experiences I would have never imagined.
Within everyone I come across, I see a reflection of a part of myself, and I feel it is important that we all should know there is a far better way to live within ourselves. If more people are empowered with these tools for transformation, the world would be a truly different place.
If it’s possible for me, it’s possible for you!
I invite you to join this journey for self-transformation. ~ Abhishek
