Kailash is a phenomenon like no other; its mysticism, its magic, its beauty, above all, in its magnitude, there is no comparison to this sacred being. I call Kailash a ‘being’ as it is more present than you and me. With these words of Sadhguru, let the following reflections open the gateway to the wisdom and spiritual essence that Kailash embodies.

Sadhguru Quotes on Mount Kailash

“(For 12 thousand years) every year without a break, pilgrims from India have been going to Kailash, walking.” – Sadhguru

“Kailash is the greatest mystical library on the planet. Anything that one wishes to know about creation has been stored there.” – Sadhguru

“There have been many places where mystics deposited their work, but Kailash has been the place. In terms of the volume and the variety that has been deposited in Kailash, it is THE place.” – Sadhguru

“They say Kailash is the center of the universe. Not in geographical terms, but in terms of mystical knowledge it definitely is.” – Sadhguru

“You go to Kailash because it is something so immense that if you spent a lifetime there, it will still draw you.” – Sadhguru

“No matter how many times and in how many ways you look at Kailash, still there are endless other ways to look at it. The only reason not to go there anymore should be the legs and the lungs.” – Sadhguru

“If you can really be with Kailash even for a few moments, life will never again be the same for you. It is a phenomenon beyond all human imagination.” – Sadhguru

“It is very difficult to articulate what I have seen in Manasarovar because it is logically impossible to explain. It is life, but not the way we know it.” – Sadhguru

“Manasarovar and Kailash – the Majestic Presence of Mysticism. Leaves you spinning and throbbing in Mind and Heart, a dizzy intoxication…” – Sadhguru

“When it comes to Kailash, there are three dimensions to it. One is the sheer presence of this mountain. Second is the enormous level of knowing or knowledge that is here. Third is the very source of Kailash, which is also present.” – Sadhguru

“The magic of Manasarovar and the effulgence of Kailash leave all enthralled. Too many stories of miraculous healings to be termed as coincidence, and the profound transformative impact upon all is overwhelming.” – Sadhguru

#21 The body is a pretty complete and self-contained instrument. If you are fascinated by machines, there isn’t a better one! ~ Sadhguru

Quote From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#22 The present is the only place that you can be. If you live, you live in this moment. If you die, you die in this moment. This moment is eternity. ~ Sadhguru

#23 Devotion means dropping the dualities of like and dislike, attachment and aversion. It means what’s fine and what’s not fine do not exist for you anymore; everything is fine. When a devotee says God is everywhere or everything is God, he is essentially saying everything is fine. ~ Sadhguru

#24 Taking responsibility is not accepting blame instead of assigning it. It simply means consciously responding to the situation. Once you take responsibility, you will invariably start exploring ways to address the situation. You will look for solutions. ~ Sadhguru

#25 Maybe it is beyond your perception right now, but because your physical form is just a fragment of the planet, everything that is happening to any part of the universe is also in some way happening to you! ~ Sadhguru

#26 Don’t battle with life. You are not anti-life; you are life. Just get in tune with it and you will see that you will pass through it easily. Keeping yourself fit and well is not a battle. Do some activity that you enjoy: play a game, swim, walk, run. If you don’t like to do anything except eat cheesecake all day, then you have a problem! Otherwise, there is no incompatibility between being active and relaxed at the same time. ~ Sadhguru

#27 Most carnivorous animals do not eat every day—definitely not three times a day! They know the food they eat moves very slowly through their tracts. ~ Sadhguru

#29 Only if you realize you are responsible do you have the freedom to create yourself the way you want to be, not as a reaction to the situations in which you exist. Reactivity is enslavement. Responsibility is freedom. ~ Sadhguru

#30 If you have no tantra in you, you have no technology to transform people; all you have are words. Words can be inspirational and directional, but not transformative. ~ Sadhguru

#31 Right now your problem is that you suffer what happened ten years ago and you suffer what may happen the day after tomorrow. ~ Sadhguru

#33 A vast number of people live in states of constant anxiety and depression. Some are suffering their failure, but ironically, many are suffering the consequences of their success. Some are suffering their limitations, but many are suffering their freedom.

Quote From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#34 Anger is fundamentally self-defeating. If you look at your life closely, you will find that you have done the most idiotic and life-negative things when you were angry. Above all, you were working against yourself. If you work against yourself, if you sabotage your own well-being, you are obviously choosing unintelligence as a way of life. ~ Sadhguru

#35 The human desire to transcend the limitations of the physical is a completely natural one. To journey from the boundary-based individual body to the boundless source of creation—this is the very basis of the spiritual process. ~ Sadhguru

#36 For a person doing the right type of meditative practice, you will find that the pulse rate would range between the thirties and forties. Even after a good lunch it would stay in the fifties. This is just one parameter that indicates the level of restfulness that your body is experiencing moment to moment. Restfulness essentially defines the replenishing and rejuvenating capability of the body. ~ Sadhguru

#37 An idiot can sit here quietly. A mystic can sit here quietly. An idiot is incapable of drawing conclusions. A mystic is unwilling to draw conclusions. The rest have glorified their conclusions as knowledge. ~ Sadhguru

#39 Creation is not unwilling to open to you the doors to the beyond. It is not creation’s unwillingness that you are struggling with. You are struggling with the walls of resistance that you have built around yourself. ~ Sadhguru

Sadhana From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#40 By focusing at a point six to nine inches away from the region between your eyebrows for twelve to forty-eight minutes, with your eyes open, you can realize the nature and structure of your individual chakras (depending on the duration and your level of focus). This perception can help in stabilizing the random movement of chakras in the human physiology due to stressful external situations. This is just one aspect of a very sophisticated form of kriya yoga that allows you access to your inner akashic, or etheric, dimension. ~ Sadhguru

Sadhguru’s Inner Engineering Book Quotes for Inner Growth

#41 Being responsible is taking ownership of your life. It means you have taken the first radical step to becoming a complete human being—fully conscious and fully human. In taking responsibility and beginning the journey toward conscious living, you are putting an end to the age-old patterns of assigning blame outward or heavenward. ~ Sadhguru

#42 Belief is just like morality. People who believe something often think they are superior to others. ~ Sadhguru

#43 If you pay attention to creation, you realize that the divine, or whatever is the source of creation, is, above all, the highest intelligence that you can imagine. Instead of trying to tap into this all-powerful intelligence that pulsates within each of us, we opt to use our logical intellect, which is useful in certain situations, but essentially limited. ~ Sadhguru

#44 Once you master certain basic yogic technologies of inner well-being, your journey through life becomes absolutely effortless. You are able to express yourself at your fullest potential without any stress or strain. You can play with life whichever way you want, but life cannot leave a single scratch upon you.

Quote From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#45 But you won’t ever see me distressed because my way of being is not in any way enslaved to what’s happening outside. This is not an otherworldly achievement. It is possible for everyone to live this way. ~ Sadhguru

#46 If you can use it when you want and put it aside when you don’t, the mind can be a fantastic tool. ~ Sadhguru

#47 Can you then respond to the moon? You can. Your body and life energies certainly do. When entire oceans rise in response to the cycles of the moon, do you think the water content in your own system doesn’t rise as well? Maybe you aren’t an astronaut; maybe you can never walk on the moon. But you can respond to the moon. In fact, you already do. You can just choose to do it—willingly, consciously. ~ Sadhguru

#48 An inability to be joyful by your own nature can make the simplest issues in life seem like highly complex problems. Right now being peaceful and joyful is made out to be the most significant problem in human existence. In pursuit of human happiness, we are ripping the planet apart. ~ Sadhguru

#49 Devotees have the sweetest experience of life. Everybody may think they are idiots, but they are having the best time on the planet. You decide who the idiot is! ~ Sadhguru

#50 If you start looking at the world around you, you would clearly understand that what you know is so minuscule that there is no way to act with confidence. A belief system takes away this problem; it gives you enormous confidence, but it does not cure your stupidity. ~ Sadhguru

#51 Eating natural foods, in their uncooked condition, when the cells are still alive, will bring an enormous sense of health and vitality to the system. ~ Sadhguru

#52 The choice is always before you: to respond consciously to the present; or to react compulsively to it. There is a vast difference between the two. And it can make the world of a difference. ~ Sadhguru

#53 Your senses give you the impression that you are experiencing the outside, but you have never experienced the outside. When you realize that all that you experience is within, that absolute homecoming is enlightenment. ~ Sadhguru

#54 Every forty to forty-eight minutes, there is also a shift of dominance in the way the breath is moving through the right and left nostrils. It is dominant in the right nostril for a length of time, and then in the left. Become aware of this so you know at least something about you is changing. This awareness can be further enhanced into awareness of the solar and lunar influences upon the body. If you bring your physical system in sync with the lunar and solar cycles, your physical and psychological health is guaranteed. ~ Sadhguru

#55 Every moment there are a million miracles happening around you: a flower blossoming, a bird tweeting, a bee humming, a raindrop falling, a snowflake wafting along the clear evening air. There is magic everywhere. If you learn how to live it, life is nothing short of a daily miracle.

Quote From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#56 Human folly is that people are always trying to extract joy from the outside. You may use the outside as a stimulus or trigger, but the real thing always comes from within. ~ Sadhguru

#62 Freedom—or mukti or moksha—is seen as the natural longing in every human being and our ultimate destination. ~ Sadhguru

#63 If we had no problem with biology, we would not make a distinction between who was who. Everybody would be known for what they are worth; whether somebody is male or female would be irrelevant. ~ Sadhguru

#64 Guru literally means dispeller of darkness. The function of the guru, contrary to popular belief, is not to teach, indoctrinate, or convert. The guru is here to throw light on dimensions beyond your sensory perceptions and your psychological drama, dimensions that you are currently unable to perceive. The guru is here, fundamentally, to throw light on the very nature of your existence. ~ Sadhguru

#65 Have you come into this world to experience life or to think about it? Your mental process is a very small happening compared to the life process, but right now it has become far more important. ~ Sadhguru

#66 I couldn’t help noticing that people coming out of restaurants always had more joyful faces than those coming out of temples. That intrigued me. ~ Sadhguru

#68 Everything may seem to be going your way: your professional life may be flourishing, your capital may be increasing, your family may be thriving, but you are not really getting anywhere. The faster you achieve your success, the faster you realize this. ~ Sadhguru

#69 I understood that being loving and compassionate is not an idea. To live in empathy is not some esoteric principle. This is the way a human being is made. #70 If I think you are a wonderful person, I will have sweet emotions toward you. If I think you are a horrible person, I will harbor nasty emotions about you. Quote From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#71 If terrible things have happened to you, you ought to have grown wise. If the worst possible events have befallen you, you should be the wisest of the lot. ~ Sadhguru

#72 If the body is at a certain level of alertness and awareness you will see that once it is well rested, it will awaken—that is, if it is eager to come to life. Maintain it in such a way that it is longing to come awake. ~ Sadhguru

#73 Put simply, our inner ecology is a mess. Somehow we think that fixing outer conditions will make everything okay on the inside. But these past 150 years are proof that technology will only bring comfort and convenience to us, not well-being. We need to understand that unless we do the right things, the right things will not happen to us: this is true not just of the outside world, but also the inside. ~ Sadhguru

#77 If we were to distill the essence of his wisdom in a few lines, it would be just this. Up and down, good and bad, sacred and profane: these are all assumed. But inward and outward: this is the one context we are sure of, the one context we can work with. ~ Sadhguru

#78 If you are compulsive, you will see that situations, experiences, thoughts, and emotions in your life will be in cycles. If they come once every twelve years, that means your system is in a high state of receptivity and balance. ~ Sadhguru

#82 If you eat raw meat, it takes between seventy to seventy-two hours to pass through your system; cooked meat takes fifty to fifty-two hours; cooked vegetables twenty-four to thirty hours; uncooked vegetables twelve to fifteen hours; fruits one and a half to three hours. ~ Sadhguru

#83 If you employ your intelligence and make an attempt to reach your ultimate nature, this is called gnana yoga, or the yoga of knowing. ~ Sadhguru

#91 If you still believe that everything will be okay the moment you find a new girlfriend or boyfriend, get a raise, buy a new house or car, then it is not yet time for yoga. Once you’ve tried all those things and more, and clearly know that none of it will ever be enough—then you are ready. So now, yoga. ~ Sadhguru

If you are willing, every moment of your life can be a fantastic experience. ~ Sadhguru

#98 In fact, every kind of pleasantness that we experience—whether peace or joy or ecstasy—is a kind of chemistry. The yogic system has always known this. ~ Sadhguru

#100 Indian culture built numerous temples on every street. The idea was not to create temples that were in competition with one another. The idea was simply that no one should live in a space that is not consecrated. ~ Sadhguru

#101 Inert minds are not a problem. Someone who is very simpleminded and whose intellect is still not effervescent has no trouble. He eats well and sleeps well. It is only people who think too much who cannot eat and sleep properly! Simple minded people perform all the activities of the body far better than the so-called intellectuals of the world. ~ Sadhguru

#102 Inner pleasantness is a surefire insurance for the making of a peaceful society and a joyful world. ~ Sadhguru

But once joy is your constant companion, you are no more an issue in your life. After that, life is a journey of endlessly unfolding celebration and discovery. ~ Sadhguru

#109 Karma is like old software that you have written for yourself, unconsciously. Depending on the type of actions that you perform, you write your software. Once you write a certain type of software, your whole system functions accordingly. Based on the information from the past, certain memory patterns are formed and keep recurring. Now, life is just cyclical. ~ Sadhguru

#110 Kriya yoga cannot be done with people who talk freedom all the time. It is not for people who keep asking, Why am I not free to eat my ice cream? Why can’t I wake up whenever I feel like it? Why can’t I eat, drink, or have sex with whatever, whoever, whenever I feel like? If you take the path of kriya, a certain fundamental discipline has to be brought into all physical, psychological, and emotional processes. ~ Sadhguru

#114 Literally, yoga means union. When you are in yoga, it means that in your experience, everything has become one. This is the essence of the science. This is also its deepest aim. ~ Sadhguru

#115 Love is never between two people. It is what happens within you, and your interiority need not be enslaved to someone or something else. Try this for fifteen minutes or so: go sit with something that means nothing to you right now—maybe a tree, a pebble, a worm, or an insect. Do it a few days in a row. After a while, you will find you can look upon it with as much love as you do your wife or husband or mother or child. Maybe the worm does not know this. That doesn’t matter. If you can look at everything lovingly, the whole world becomes beautiful in your experience. ~ Sadhguru

#116 Mastication involves grinding and then thoroughly mixing the food with the saliva; hence the design modification in the jaw. If mastication happens properly, close to fifty percent of your digestive process would be finished in the mouth. In other words, the stomach region is expecting partially digested food to efficiently complete the process. In modern life, people are in such a hurry that we gulp our rush-hour lunches without the food being properly masticated. The stomach is burdened not only with undigested food, but also with partially destroyed food. Today’s kitchens have largely become places where food is efficiently destroyed. ~ Sadhguru

#117 Modern science has arrived at its conclusions through mathematical deduction. Religion has arrived at its conclusions through belief. Consequently, the yogic tradition does not mention God, or deny it either. ~ Sadhguru

I am the one who determines the nature of my experience in this life and beyond. I am the maker of my life. ~ Sadhguru

#120 Mysticism on this planet evolved only in those places where people learned the technology of being ecstatic by their own nature. Otherwise, you would not dare, because if keeping yourself pleasant is a big challenge, you can’t take on other challenges. ~ Sadhguru

#121 No boundary, no burden. This is the turnaround in human consciousness that needs to take place. Once this happens, it is not that the cosmos begins to happen your way. Instead, what you are becomes cosmic. This is not transcendence; this is homecoming. ~ Sadhguru

#122 No tradition, however time-honoured, deserves to live on as anything more than a museum piece if it has outlived its relevance.

Once you experience this inner freedom, you will never experience insecurity in your life again. ~ Sadhguru

#125 People are even beginning to think that fear is a natural part of their existence. No. Fear is a result of the incompleteness of your existence. #126 Relief from something that you cannot hold within you is always the greatest pleasure, isn’t it? Whatever that thing may be! ~ Sadhguru

#127 Remain still. Allow your attention to slowly grow still as well. Do this for five to seven minutes a day. You will notice that your breath will slow down. ~ Sadhguru

#128 Responsibility is not about talking, thinking, or doing. Responsibility is about being. That’s the way life is—not an independent, self-contained bubble but a moment-to- moment dialogue with the universe. You don’t have to work at making it that way. You just have to see it the way it is. ~ Sadhguru

#129 Right now, for most people, these four dimensions are aligned in different directions. Your mind is thinking one way; your emotions pull you another way; your physical body another way; your energy another way. This makes you a potential calamity, an accident waiting to happen. You are being hijacked—you are being pulled apart, in four different ways. ~ Sadhguru

#130 Spirituality does not mean moving away from life; it means becoming alive to the core, in the fullest possible way. With age, physical agility may diminish, but the level of joy and aliveness need not. If your level of joy and aliveness is declining, you are committing suicide in installments. ~ Sadhguru

#131 That is why the yogic system does not talk about God. It does not talk about the soul or heaven. Such talk invariably makes people hallucinatory. Yoga talks only about the barriers that you have set up, because this resistance is all that needs to be attended to. ~ Sadhguru

#134 The day the system says no food is a cleanup day. Since most people are not aware of which day their body should go without food, the day of Ekadashi was fixed in the Indian calendar. Ekadashi is the eleventh day of the lunar segment and recurs every fourteen days. ~ Sadhguru

#135 The entire aim and endeavor of yoga is to open up the cocoon of the physical body to the larger sensory body where you experience everything as a part of you. Fasting is an extension of this logic: it is a way of nourishing yourself without any active ingestion. It may be done as a detoxification process nowadays, but this is the internal rationale. ~ Sadhguru

#136 The essence of yoga, as we have said before, is just this—to arrive at that moment where there is a clear space between you and your mind.

Quote From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#137 The faster you achieve your success, the faster you realize this. When you are in a certain state of insufficiency, you keep thinking that everything will be okay once your dreams are realized. But if all the things you dreamt of happen very quickly, you suddenly realize that, although everything is happening as you thought it should, life still remains unfulfilled and your longings persist. ~ Sadhguru

#138 The planet is spinning on time: not a small event. All the galaxies are managing fine; the whole cosmos is doing great. But you have one nasty little thought crawling through your head, and it is a bad day! The problem is you are living in a psychological space that bears no connection with reality. And you are insecure, because it can collapse at any moment. ~ Sadhguru

#139 The question is: do you want to be a full-time human being or a part-time human being? If you restrict your ability to respond, the scope and dimension of your experience will be unsurprising, predictable, limited, narrow. But to be an absolutely full-time human being is to be a constant full-blooded response to everything. You don’t have to do anything in particular. You just need to become a willing piece of life in this glorious living cosmos. ~ Sadhguru

#140 The thing to remember is that none of these will settle you in any enduring way. Human life is longing for unlimited expansion, and that is the only thing that will settle you for good. ~ Sadhguru

#141 The very essence of dhyana, or meditativeness, is that you push yourself to the highest possible intensity where, after some time, there is no effort. Now meditation will not be an act, but a natural consequence of the intensity that has been achieved. You can simply be. It is in these absolutely non-compulsive states of existence that the necessary atmosphere is set for the blossoming of an individual into a cosmic possibility. ~ Sadhguru

#142 The whole point of yoga is to bring you to an experience wherein, if you sit here, there is no such thing as you and me. It is all me—or all you! Any process that helps you to reach this union is yoga. ~ Sadhguru

#143 There is not a single Indian temple where there is no image of a snake. This is not because this is a culture of serpent worshippers. It signifies that a sacred space holds the possibility of arousing the unmanifest energies in you. ~ Sadhguru

#144 There is so much talk of God and heaven mainly because human beings have not realized the immensity of being human.

Quote From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#145 These are the two fundamental ways in which the spiritual journey can be approached: you can either go slowly, step-by-step, accepting all natural assistance available to you, or you can ignore all the steps and take the inward leap. ~ Sadhguru

#146 They are labeling their compulsions, their limitations, as their choices. If you can joyfully do whatever is needed in a given situation, this is freedom. But limiting yourself to doing only what you like is a horribly compulsive way to live. ~ Sadhguru

#147 This is the sole purpose of the spiritual process. The life and work of every spiritual guide, across history and across culture, has been just this: to point out that the cage door does not exist. Whether you fly or choose to remain in the limitations of the cage—let that be a conscious choice. ~ Sadhguru

#148 Though unity is the basic fabric of creation, duality brings texture, design, and color to life. ~ Sadhguru

#149 Through millions of years of evolution, nature has caged you within certain boundaries—this is the human predicament. But this imprisonment is only on the level of biology. On the level of human consciousness, you are like a bird in a cage without a door. What a tragic irony! It is only out of long aeons of habit that you are refusing to fly free. ~ Sadhguru

#150 To be joyful and peaceful within yourself every moment of your life, to be able to perceive life beyond its physical limitations—these are not superhuman qualities. These are human possibilities. Yoga is not about being superhuman; it is about realizing that being human is super. ~ Sadhguru

#151 To program the calories you must consume and the number of hours you must sleep is a foolish way to handle life. ~ Sadhguru

#152 To talk of good karma and bad karma is like talking of good bondage and bad bondage. There is no such thing. Karma is just your own creation. It is neither good nor bad. It is software that can be useful if you have some freedom from it. ~ Sadhguru

#153 True intelligence is just life and life—and that which is the source of life. ~ Sadhguru

#154 Turning inward does not have anything to do with thoughts, ideas, opinions, or philosophies. It has nothing to do with the psychological activity of your mind. Enhancing your perception means enhancing your ability to receive life, just as it is. If you are willing to dedicate just a few minutes of your life to this every day, you would see the change. The simple process of paying a little bit of attention to your inner nature will transform the quality of your life in remarkable ways. ~ Sadhguru

#155 Unfortunately, these days even so-called spiritual leaders are talking about self-esteem. Self and esteem are both a problem. Both are very limited entities; both are fragile; both will always be insecure. If you have no esteem, very good. If you have no self, fabulous! ~ Sadhguru

#156 Universality is not an idea; it is an existential truth. It is individuality that is an idea. Yoga is simply chitta vritti nirodha. That means, if the activity of your mind ceases and you are still alert, you are in yoga.

Quote From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#157 In yoga, we transform the physical body from a series of compulsions of flesh, blood, and hormones into a conscious process, a powerful instrument of perception and knowing. ~ Sadhguru

#158 When everybody was talking about going to heaven, Gautama the Buddha said, You say everything is fine in heaven, so what will I do there? Let me go to hell and do something to help others, because anyway I cannot suffer. ~ Sadhguru

#159 When most people say life, they mean the accessories of life—their work, their family, their relationships, the homes they live in, the cars they drive, the clothes they wear, or the gods they pray to. ~ Sadhguru

#160 When pain, misery, or anger happen, it is time to look within you, not around you. ~ Sadhguru

#161 When you pursue your own likes and dislikes, you feel alone in this vast existence, constantly insecure, unstable, psychologically challenged. But once existence yields to you, it delivers you to a different place of grace—where every pebble, every rock, every tree, every atom, speaks to you in a language you understand. ~ Sadhguru

#162 Yoga does not ask you to work with anything other than what you know. It simply tells you that if the physical, mental, and energy bodies are perfectly aligned, you will find access to the bliss body. ~ Sadhguru

#163 Yoga is the science of creating inner situations exactly the way you want them. When you fine-tune yourself to such a point where everything functions beautifully within you, naturally the best of your abilities will flow out of you. ~ Sadhguru

#164 Why do you need to be pleasant within? The answer is self-evident. When you are in a pleasant inner state, you are naturally pleasant to everyone. ~ Sadhguru

#165 Yoga is the technology of upgrading, activating, and refining these inner energies for the highest possibilities. Suddenly, your capabilities reach a level of brilliance that you never imagined possible. An accidental and limited life turns near-miraculous. ~ Sadhguru

#166 You cannot transform the world without transforming the individual.

Quote From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#167 You come into this world with nothing and you go empty-handed. The wealth of life lies only in how you have allowed its experiences to enrich you. Filth can blossom into the fragrance of a flower. Manure can transform itself into the sweetness of a mango. No adversity is an impediment if you are in a state of conscious response. No matter what the nature of the situation you are in, it can only enhance your experience of life, if you allow it to. ~ Sadhguru

#168 You don’t have to make the heart beat, the liver perform all its complex chemistry, or even try to breathe; everything that is needed for your physical existence to manifest itself is happening on its own. The body is a pretty complete and self-contained. ~ Sadhguru

#169 You sit for just a few hours a day with your spine erect, you will see that it will have an unmistakable effect on your life.

Quote From ‘Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy’ by Sadhguru

#170 Your destiny is written by you unconsciously. If you have mastery over your physical body, fifteen to twenty percent of your life and destiny will be in your hands. If you have mastery over your mind, fifty to sixty percent of your life and destiny will be in your hands. If you have mastery over your life energies, a hundred percent of your life and destiny will be in your hands. ~ Sadhguru

#171 Young women have an advantage because they are also in sync with the lunar cycles. It is an advantage, but a lot of them treat it as a curse. It is a fantastic possibility that your body is both connected to the solar and the lunar cycles. Nature has granted this advantage to a woman because she has been entrusted with the responsibility of propagating the human race. So she has been given some extra privileges, which unfortunately have been perceived socially as disadvantages. ~ Sadhguru

Inaction is also karma.

– Sadhguru

Do not think of karma in terms of lifetimes. Think of it in terms of just this Living Moment. – Sadhguru

The human equation was always meant to be like this: to move from being to doing to having. – Sadhguru

The irony is that the more you try to avoid karma, the more it multiplies! – Sadhguru

However profound it is, everything that comes from memory spells karmic bondage. – Sadhguru

If I look at the tension of the karmic fiber, I can often estimate when a person was born and approximately when they are going to die. – Sadhguru

A day is but a piece of time that lets us live and die. … This day let us live and Live totally. – Sadhguru

If you avoid any experience – whether pain or pleasure, sorrow or joy – it is big karma. But if you go through the experience without resisting it, the karma dissolves. – Sadhguru

These are the only two things that you are suffering right now: your memory and your imagination. – Sadhguru

So the source of your misery is not your past actions. The source of your misery is how you’re processing the imprint of the past now. – Sadhguru

Do not try to become a franchisee for cosmic energy. And do not try to become a miracle worker. – Sadhguru

Every human being is in the process of becoming divine… Collaborating with Nature’s plan is all you need to do. – Sadhguru

We have reached a point today where authority has become the truth. But soon as we turn inward, we realize that truth is the only authority! – Sadhguru

You have pursued so much for your well-being: your home, your business, your car, your spouse, your child, your club membership. But look back now and see: have you caught the fish, or has the fish caught you? – Sadhguru

Giving up something for something else is commerce; giving up something for nothing is a sacrifice. – Sadhguru

Traditionally, yogis took a dip in the river at least twice a day at the very minimum. Flowing water can help erase runanubandha to a great extent.

– Sadhguru

If you take more karmic load now, when you are well and capable, later you will walk hands-free! – Sadhguru

There is only one way out of the spider’s web. And it is the age-old journey from unawareness to awareness, from compulsion to consciousness. – Sadhguru

Happiness is just your constant state of existence. And this is the end of suffering. – Sadhguru

As far as the laws of existence are concerned, there is no good and bad, no crime and punishment. It is just that for every action, there is a consequence. – Sadhguru

It is not about performing miracles. It is about recognizing the miracle of life that you are. – Sadhguru

Karma is the glue that makes you stick to this body-mind mechanism. If you washed away all your karma, you would exit your body this very instant! – Sadhguru

Being spiritual means you are committed to charting your own destiny. When you are on such a path, what you are essentially saying to the world is I am not windblown. I am self-propelled. – Sadhguru

Different energetically intense spaces offer different possibilities. But at the Isha Yoga Center, we ensure that the only possibility is to fast-forward karma and hasten the spiritual process. Nothing else is relevant. – Sadhguru

Both memory and imagination exist only in your mind. – Sadhguru

When you live by the memory of a single book, you are religious. When you live by the memory of several books, you are intellectual. When you live by the memory of several generations of people, you become a truly compassionate human being. But when you live beyond the memory of generations of people, you become a mystic. – Sadhguru

As a guru, I do not support siddhis. I destroy them. I am not interested in miracles. I put a halt to such capabilities right away because if a person acquires these powers, they will no longer pursue the spiritual path. – Sadhguru

As we have seen, whatever you do with your body, mind, or energy leaves a certain imprint. These imprints configure themselves into tendencies. These tendencies have been traditionally described in India by a wonderfully apt word: vasana. – Sadhguru

The yogic system gives no commandments whatsoever. It leaves you free to choose whether you want to generate positive karma for the future, distance yourself from your karmic package, or dissolve it altogether. – Sadhguru

Never look up to anyone; never look down on anyone. If people practiced this simple sadhana, they would see everything just the way it is. If you look up to someone, you will exaggerate their positive qualities; if you look down on someone, you will exaggerate their negative qualities. – Sadhguru

If you consciously accept this moment just the way it is, you arrive at a certain ease within yourself. Ease is a consequence of the relaxation of all you have created. You can, in turn, experience the whole of existence as yourself. – Sadhguru

If you find yourself oscillating between craving and aversion, love and hate, your karma is growing at a rapid pace; your bondage is intensifying. If you have strong likes and dislikes, your suffering is also more intense.

– Sadhguru

In losing awareness of self is the trap of karma. The hunter becomes the hunted, the architect becomes the bonded laborer, the creator becomes creation. A spider trapped in a web of its own making is a tragedy. – Sadhguru

In maintaining distance from your thought and emotion, you can become available to the grace of the greatest beings of the past. – Sadhguru

In today’s world, where information is available everywhere, a school should shift away from propagating information to becoming an inspirational place, which builds beautiful human beings. – Sadhguru

Instead of being the finest creatures on this planet, we have turned into the worst. We kill for pleasure, for love, for hatred, for identity, for God, for just about anything. Which other animal has unleashed so much wanton cruelty, animosity, and bloodshed on this planet? – Sadhguru

Interestingly, scientific experiments today show that if you create an energy pattern outside a chamber in a vacuum state, virtual protons and virtual neutrons will begin to appear. That means, to put it simply, that something is taking form from nothing. – Sadhguru

It is important to see that whatever seems determined in your life has been determined by you unconsciously. – Sadhguru

Becoming a karma yogi does not mean you have to give up whatever you are doing right now. It means you do it with wholehearted involvement and, in the process, help create a more joyful world wherever you go. – Sadhguru

Live consciously, and you will see that this moment cannot be fragmented into past and future, into now and then. All that ever was in this creation is only in this moment, and all that will ever be is only in this moment. – Sadhguru

Karma is about becoming the source of one’s own creation. In shifting responsibility from heaven to oneself, one becomes the very maker of one’s destiny. – Sadhguru

Karma is action on three levels: body, mind, and energy. Whatever you do on these three levels leaves a certain residue or imprint upon you. – Sadhguru

Karma is like old software that you have written for yourself unconsciously…. Based on the information from the past, certain memory patterns keep recurring. Now your life turns habitual, repetitive, and cyclical.

– Sadhguru

Karma is the natural basis of all existence. It is not a law that is imposed from above. It does not allow us to outsource our responsibility anywhere else; it does not allow us to blame our parents, our teachers, our countries, our politicians, our gods, or our fates. It makes each one of us squarely responsible for our own destinies and, above all, the nature of our experience of life. – Sadhguru

Karma is one big noise. If you cannot hear it, it is simply because right now you are accustomed to listening to the outer world. But once you learn to listen to your interiority, you hear the karmic din loud and clear. The decibel levels are so high, there’s no missing it! – Sadhguru

Karma simply means we have created the blueprint for our lives. It means we are the makers of our own fate. When we say this is my karma, we are actually saying I am responsible for my life. – Sadhguru

Karma yoga is not about being busy. It is not about being in constant doer mode. It is instead about engaging in the kind of activity that frees you, about performing the kind of action that leads you to your own higher nature, toward your freedom. – Sadhguru

Living totally does not mean just having a good time. It means experiencing anything that comes your way fully and intensely. The very process of life is the dissolution of karma. If you live every moment of your life totally, you dissolve an enormous volume of karma. – Sadhguru

Once memory enters, action is enslaving. Without memory, however, you can operate consciously. When your action is unsullied by past impressions, it is liberating. – Sadhguru

Pain is produced whenever there is any injury to the body. Pain is the body’s way of alerting you that something is wrong, that action must be taken. Pain is useful. – Sadhguru

People think memory means only mind. But that is not the case. The volume of memory that the body carries is a billion times more than the volume of memory your mind is capable of carrying. – Sadhguru

Right now, you are like a bubble that says, “The air that I hold in my lungs is my air. You still have to exhale!”

– Sadhguru

Seeing your life as self-created, rather than as an accidental phenomenon—this is the basis of karma. This is an empowered life that will naturally move toward liberation. – Sadhguru

Since enlightened beings no longer have a karmic footprint, it is very difficult for them to retain a physical form. Yogis have various tricks to accomplish this. One option is to perform conscious karma to retain the body. Many mystics down the ages have done this. – Sadhguru

So the very way in which you experience life—whether you see it as sweet or sour, beautiful or ugly, pleasant or unpleasant—is your responsibility, as your ability to respond is what determines the nature of your experience. – Sadhguru

So, socially, if we create a situation that does not set up discrimination or an atmosphere that is not overly dripping with sentimental pity, there would be no problem. – Sadhguru

The basis of karma is simple: you are the source of all your baggage. – Sadhguru

The fundamental difference between a human being and a machine is perception. – Sadhguru

The goal for every freedom seeker is the same: to attend to your karma now rather than wait for life to throw it at you. – Sadhguru

The intellect, which is based on memory, is a wonderful tool. However, it can only inform; it cannot transform. – Sadhguru

The karmic mechanism is ceaseless. Every mental fluctuation in you creates a chemical reaction, which then proceeds to provoke a physical sensation. This sensation, in turn, reinforces the chemical reaction, which then strengthens the mental fluctuation. Over time, your very chemistry is determined by a series of unconscious reactions to sensory and mental stimuli. – Sadhguru

The present is your only address. The here and now is your only abode. – Sadhguru

The reason why human beings keep generating karma is that they want to leave a footprint. They are seeking some continuation of their individual identity. – Sadhguru

The significance of karma is that it means that none of your identities—derived from beliefs, ideologies, religions, and systems of morality—are absolute. All of them are capable of constant evolution. – Sadhguru

The word Sadhguru, as I often point out, means an uneducated guru. – Sadhguru

The yogic culture personifies a certain concept, infuses drama into it, and turns it into stories. The story mode enables it to speak of dimensions that are beyond the realm of logic. – Sadhguru

There is a point of convergence in your energetic body that stretches beyond the physical body. It is approximately seventeen to nineteen inches from the point between your eyebrows. You must search for the point where the vision meets at an acute angle of eleven degrees. Finding that point of convergence boosts the akasha, or etheric element, within you. The moment the element of akasha is dominant, you will find the clarity of your perception hugely enhanced. – Sadhguru

There is only one crime against life: to make believe that you are something other than life. – Sadhguru

This path reminds you that while karma is your bondage, if you handle it right, karma can also be a stepping-stone to your liberation. – Sadhguru

Those who long to leave a footprint shall never fly. – Sadhguru

Those who work only for a livelihood often feel constrained and suffocated. But when you are deeply involved in your work on every level, you will find activity invigorates you; it does not exhaust you. – Sadhguru

Ultimately, life is neither suffering nor bliss. It is what you make it. We act in order to express our fulfillment, not to acquire it. – Sadhguru

What is happening within you and how you experience your life is entirely your making – your karma. – Sadhguru

What you call fate is just a life situation you have created for yourself unconsciously. Your destiny is what you have crafted in unawareness. If you become a hundred percent conscious, your destiny becomes a conscious creation. – Sadhguru

When some trigger compels action, how consciously you perform that action becomes important. If you do it unconsciously, that unconsciousness will generate an enormous amount of karma. And that is how karma perpetuates itself. – Sadhguru

When there is no imprint of karma in conscious experience, every action and experience becomes liberating. – Sadhguru

With a little awareness, every human being can begin to transform habit into choice, compulsion into consciousness. – Sadhguru

Yama and niyama are simple guidelines, the dos and don’ts on the spiritual path, such as nonviolence; commitment to truth; not stealing; not hoarding wealth; purity; cleanliness; practice; and so on. They create the right atmosphere for one’s spiritual evolution. – Sadhguru

You are in the moment. There is nowhere else to be. Existentially, this is the only truth. It is just that you are not available to it. – Sadhguru

You cannot own life; you can only live it. – Sadhguru

You have a sense of time and space only because you are looking at everything through the prism of your Accumulated Karma. But if you go beyond your thought, your emotion, and your body and experience this moment just once, you will never be able to fall out of it. – Sadhguru

You have the choice and ability to be any way you want in a given moment. That is the freedom and the curse. Most human beings are suffering their freedom. – Sadhguru

You may be carrying around a sackful of stinking garbage. Either you can smear yourself with it and get terribly miserable, or you can make good manure out of it and create a wonderful garden. – Sadhguru

Your body is a heap of food you have ingested over time. Your mind is a heap of impressions and ideas you have imbibed and processed over time. Both are creations of the past. Both are products of memory. So whether you identify with your body or your mind, what you call your personality is simply an accumulation of memory. The essence of everything you consider to be yourself is karmic. – Sadhguru

Your karma is not in what is happening to you; your karma is in the way you respond to what is happening to you.

– Sadhguru

If you look back on dozens of lives, you will have no urge to go through the same nonsense again and again. Once you know that the mortal way is just a repetition, you will seek another way—the eternal way. – Sadhguru

The unconscious mind is therefore a tremendous library of karmic memory. You would find this information very useful if you were approaching it consciously. The problem is that it manifests all the time, without your permission! – Sadhguru

It does not matter what volumes of karma you have, the moment you start stepping into the subtler dimensions of the etheric and bliss bodies, your karma cannot touch you. – Sadhguru

If you die in anger, in hatred, in misery or in pain, you attract one kind of karma. If you die in peace or blissfulness, you attract another kind of karma. – Sadhguru

When I meet someone who is going through an upheaval right now, it is not difficult for me to know when it is going to hit them again. I do not predict doom for them, of course. Instead, I might say “Why don’t you meditate?” Or “Why don’t you do some hatha yoga?” If you do some spiritual practice, you can handle the problem from within and minimize its impact upon you. – Sadhguru

We urgently need sensible people on this planet now—people who will do the right thing with life. People who operate on the basis of life sense. – Sadhguru

Dying in what the yogic tradition calls the samadhi state is the ultimate way to die. This means that while you are living, you walk consciously into death. – Sadhguru

Existence is not in a hurry. But if you are, you could join hands with existence and reach your goal much more quickly. – Sadhguru

Karma is not some external system of crime and punishment. It is an internal cycle generated by you.

– Sadhguru

“Karma” stands out as an essential read due to its profound teachings, empowering readers to shape their destinies and break free from the repetitive cycle of karma. – Sadhguru

By approaching each moment with mindfulness and awareness, “Karma” bestows us with the power to take control of our lives, making choices that align with our true selves. It provides a roadmap for making wiser decisions and embracing a more purposeful existence. – Sadhguru

Sadhguru’s captivating book, “Death: An Inside Story,” adorned with the tagline “A book for all those who shall die,” fearlessly delves into the realm of death, unraveling the complexities of the disembodied state, death rituals and the cycle of reincarnation. Within the pages of Sadhguru’s remarkable Death book, lies a treasure trove of thought-provoking quotes.

#1 One of the biggest human follies is to engage with death in the third person, as though it is an abstract event that happens to other people, not us. – Sadhguru

#2 Death is in fact life in a very intense form. – Sadhguru

#3 Most people in the world believe that if they die in their sleep, it is wonderful. What a horrible way to go! – Sadhguru

#4 Life needs a certain tension. Otherwise, you cannot keep it going. Death is utter relaxation. – Sadhguru

#5 In reality, death is not the end because there is no such thing as death. Death exists only to one who has no awareness of life. There is only life, life and life alone. – Sadhguru

#6 Death is the creation of the unaware. – Sadhguru

#7 As we have responsibilities for the living, we have responsibilities for the dead. – Sadhguru

#8 Don’t be dead serious. Life is a brief sparkle, but you shall be dead for a very long time. – Sadhguru

#9 Confronting your fear of death can bring tremendous clarity and transformation in one’s life. – Sadhguru

#10 Essentially, spirituality means putting your life on fast forward. You may suffer much more because everything happens at a fast pace. – Sadhguru

#11 Fear means your imagination is out of control. So it is a question of taking your faculties into your control rather than fighting fear. – Sadhguru

#12 Fundamentally, the problem is that we think there is a solution for anger, there is another solution for fear, there is another solution for depression. No. – Sadhguru

#13 If we look at life and death as a happening in terms of your experience, your inhalation is life and your exhalation is death. – Sadhguru

#14 In a way, everyone is a ghost. Whether you are a ghost with the body or without a body is the only question. – Sadhguru

#15 I want you to understand: however big one is in the world, tomorrow morning if I fall dead or you fall dead, the world will go on just fine—maybe better—without us! – Sadhguru

#16 Kalabhairava Karma is not a ritual to handle your grief, but because of what it does, it can handle grief also. – Sadhguru

#17 If one has mastery over one’s vyana, one can leave one’s body at will. – Sadhguru

#18 Depression, grief and joy are all infectious. You have to make up your mind as to what you want to infect the world with. – Sadhguru

#19 So at the moment of death, your many, many lifetimes play out in a few moments with great intensity. – Sadhguru

#20 The whole spiritual process is about raising the dead. In that sense, raising the dead is my work. – Sadhguru

#21 Once inside the dome, those who think they are possessed by some beings or who are impacted by the occult and such problems should sit either within the 15-degree angle in front of the Dhyanalinga or behind it. That space has been specially created to remove these influences. – Sadhguru

#22 If at the moment of death, a person can be 100 per cent aware, that person will not have to go through rebirth. They will not take another body—they are released. – Sadhguru

#23 As long as you are alive, it is important that you see how to contribute to the living because other than doing a few rituals within the stipulated time, there is nothing that you can do about the dead. – Sadhguru

#24 So from two meals a day, you brought it down to one meal for a few years. Then from one meal, you make it half a meal, and so on. This can greatly enhance one’s lifespan, or bring it down, depending upon one’s karmic and energy situations. – Sadhguru

#25 The violence of the death is not determined by what happened to the body; it depends on what happened within that person. – Sadhguru

#26 For most people, what happened yesterday is more real than what is happening right now. That is their experience of life. They live by memory. When you live by memory, you live with one foot in the land of death and another in the land of life. That is torture! – Sadhguru

#27 Tomorrow morning you may be dead, no matter how much security you create for yourself. I am not wishing you this, but it does not matter how healthy you are, how well you are right now, tomorrow you may be dead. It is a real possibility. So there is no such thing as security in this life. The moment you start seeking security, naturally, you become death-oriented. Unknowingly, you will seek death. – Sadhguru

#28 One major contribution to the multiple, complex ailments that you see on the planet these days is that people are trying to dodge life and, in the process, are inviting death. #34 Death rituals are not just to assist the dead person in his or her journey, they are also for the benefit of those who are left behind, because if this person who dies leaves a lot of unsettled life around us, our lives will not be good. – Sadhguru

#35 Even on a daily basis, one can make this awareness a part of one’s life. When you are hungry and want to eat, just postpone it by ten minutes. Be conscious of your hunger, do not get busy with some other activity. Consciously postpone your meal and wait. – Sadhguru

#55 Our parents gave us just a seed and that became the body. But what the Source of Creation gave us was not a seed in that sense. It gave itself. This is the reason that all the possibilities that the Source of Creation holds are kind of encapsulated in us.
